Long Night of Science 2008On 4 July 2008 our group contributed to the Dresden Long Night of Science, which is an event that invites everyone wishing to get in contact with science. Along with many different institutions spread all over Dresden, the Medical Faculty Carl Gustav Carus of the Dresden University of Technology presented - in cooperation with the University Hospital - its wide variety of clinical and laboratory research in the Department of Gynaecology as well as the Medical Theoretical Centre (MTZ) to a great audience. Actually, more than 45,000 guests visited the campus and joined talks about the latest scientific news and got fascinating insights about research being performed at the Medical Faculty.
The Solimena Lab, represented by Claudia Pfleger (Medical Clinic II) and Matthias Hepprich (Experimental Diabetology), provided elementary information about Diabetes Mellitus and blood sugar measurements that were vividly attended by the audience. Furthermore, Matthias Hepprich gave a talk (in German) about Diabetes, new therapeutic strategies, their prospects and beyond this what the Elector of Saxony and King of Poland (known as Augustus II the Strong) had to do with this disease.
